Sustainable Summer Part 1

Sustainable Summer

Part 1 - Sunglasses

With the warm weather on the way, it’s time to go through the wardrobe and dig out the summer items. Of course you may find you need a few new items. Here’s our round up of head to toe ideas that will help you make sustainable choices.

In part one, we are looking for sustainable sunglasses options. Sunglasses are a notorious form of fast fashion with thousands thrown away each year. This feels like a good place to start.

We’ve tried to include a range of price points but on the whole tried to keep the ideas affordable.

1) MELLER

mellerbrand.com

This brand has a range of biobased frames which use a much higher percentage of naturally based materials and have lowered the emissions required to manufacture them. Here are our favourites:

2) Depop

depop.com

There are no shortage of sunglasses on depop.  Most are either  second hand or deadstock glasses from a variety of brands. This is a great sustainable option since second hand requires no new materials for manufacturing and also there are some good deals to be found.

3) Pala Eyewear

palaeyewear.com

Last but in no way least, check our Pala Eyewear for a luxury option with a cause.

Not only do Pala use sustainable materials to make their glasses, they give back with every pair sold:

‘For every pair of sunglasses sold, we give back to eye-care programmes in Africa by providing grants to vision centres, dispensaries and screening programmes.’

We love Pala. Do check out the full range for some beautiful finds.

More to come...
